for free!

All you have to do is to participate in our contest, which consists in showing us your material. As long it's played tightly, as perfectly and in time as possible,
you can record your tracks with any means you have, at the comfort of your own home.

Our jury will choose the best recordings, and this selection of bands will be submitted to a vote of all Spirit of Metal members!

Recording rules:
You can record your tracks with whatever means you have handy, at the comfort of your own home;
"Shit In - Shit Out". Don't use any effects, or touch the eq and comps on your console/soundcard;
Your playing and tuning must be perfect (be it guitars, bass, drums or any other instrument), anything but perfect will not yield the expected results. There's no "we'll fix it in the mix" - that's the biggest lie in the music industry and the reason why so many bands sound lifeless;
If you're recording guitars and bass, try to record the DI signal too (any descent DI box will do), it can be a life saver;
Try to capture the cleanest and most upfront signal, any room/ambience will interfere with the mix, in a very detrimental way;
Use either 16/24Bit 44.1Khz, free of unwanted noise, consolidated tracks (=1 whole file/instrument track, not 2,3 etc, so 1 file for guitar, 1 file for bass etc), starting from 0 even if there's nothing recorded for 10mins;
If the drums were recorded, please include all tracks. If it's midi, please include the midi file;
If you have a "preview" mix, please include that too, along with a reference song in full - a production all band members agree on- this must be in WAV not mp3.
